Dress Code:
Casual, comfortable sweats or yoga pants, (preferably) salsa practice shoes (for turns and spins on a wooden dance floor). If you don't have salsa shoes, you can wear your evening dance shoes. Tennis shoes will inhibit your spins and may ruin your knees over time. You can go to the Promenade Dancesport Facility where Cindy has many shoes in stock or the DWG Store to see if you find something you like. They can get pricy but make a world of difference when you dance.
Check out Grace's Shoe Clues Chapter in her Salsa With Grace Instructional Video so she can explain why you need good dance shoes, which pair you should buy first and how to take care of them! Purchase our Salsa Videos.
Email from Grace's Last Workshop!
Dear Grace,
Just wanted to drop you a line to thank you and compliment you on the workshop Saturday.
I thought you explained and demonstrated things wonderfully. I also read the Workshop Notes and was impressed with the exercises suggested and the clarity and succinctness your summary of the essence of dance, movement, and balance.
Balance exercise #2 reminded me of an asana we do in Yoga called appropriately the "balancing pose" which is designed to improve balance. I'm confident that with practice my ability to spin and dance "gracefully" will be greatly improved now that I understand the Why and How.
Sincerely,
B

Chinquapin Middle School Recital A Complete Success!
WBAL-TV 11 was on site when the Latin Dance Team of Chinquapin Middle School came out to show their stuff! From January-June of 2007 a group of children from Chinquapin auditioned to be on DWG's Latin Dance Team. They showed great heart and determination and did a merengue-threesome routine where 1 boy danced with two girls at once and a Bachata solo routine. It really changed these kids perspectives on finding the joy in life no matter what you may be going through.

10. Testimonials
Salsa has shown me how to have a good time and have fun while I'm on the dance floor...but, you Grace, have instilled confidence in me while I'm having fun. I had started with the beginners class back in March (and I had never ever danced anything before, never even been on a dance floor) and then about 2 months later when I took my first intermediate with you, I remember the first thing you commented on was the top that I was wearing, and I had been thinking the same thing about yours. You have such a warm welcoming personality that I wish to learn more than just dancing from you. I look forward to the salsa cruise, its going to be a blast!
Urfa

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you for all the hard work you put-in teaching my daughter. Ashley really enjoyed learning from you; she was able to learn a different culture and experience a beautiful change. She admires you and we appreciate you for that. I pray you have continued success in all that you do. Again, I would just like to say thanks.

===================
Hi Grace,
Thank you very much for your individual lessons. I came to you with no experience whatsoever, and left with a set of moves I could use. As you know I was scared silly about dancing at my wedding (my now wife is Panamanian and just about everyone there was Latino and a connoisseur of dancing). When that beautiful song we chose started, I forgot everyone else was there. After a cross body lead and a couple of turns, I could hear some enthusiasm from the crowd and I felt pretty good. I am glad to have been able to enjoy that day with my new family and I look forward to learning more for my new wife.

Support Arts Bill
The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to shortly begin floor consideration of the FY 2008 Interior appropriations bill. As you might have read in Arts Action Alerts in the past few weeks, this bill includes an historic $35 million increase for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). This increase will bring the NEA budget to $160 million and will provide new funding for the grants to state and local organizations, Challenge America, and American Masterpieces programs. This directly affects Maryland!
We ask that you take just two minutes to visit our Americans for the Arts E-Advocacy Center to contact your Members of Congress and ask them to support this funding by voting to approve this bill, and oppose any efforts to reduce this support for the NEA. With a few clicks, you can send a customizable message to your Representative and Senators. Just go to:
