Salsa Videos

What makes our video different from others?

  • Learn from certified salsa instructors Hugo Badillo from Puerto Rico and Grace Badillo 1st generation New-Yorican.
  • Step by step instruction of the most important foundational movements that are usually ignored in other salsa instructional videos.
  • Our video contains  the 1,2,3,5,6,7 count bar during explanations and each step correlates to a number of the beat we are stepping to.  Learn how a step looks to each beat!
  • Our video contains valuable salsa tips in each chapter in writing to remind you of key dance guidelines that can make your dancing much easier.
  • Learn similarities in certain combinations so you can better remember and retain many more patterns.
  • Learn styling that is elegant and beautiful.  Learn to make a move your own and not look like a cookie cutter image of someone else on the floor.
  • Learn how to lead your partner and not let your partner lead you.
  • Learn from instructors teach salsa and train others how to teach dance and communicate it effectively.
  • Our video contains valuable shoe information about buying dance shoes, why you need dance shoes, and how to take care of them so they will last for years.

For more details or to purchase our salsa videos.

Our Mission:

To our students and friends:

Why are we producing these Dance Instructional DVD's?  What are our goals?

  • To create a dynamic company that fills peoples lives with joy.  (Done!)
  • Release a dance video series out all over the world to finance a Global Mission to help the sometimes forgotten Latino poor and parentless. (Release Imminent!)
  • To assist families providing grants to start small businesses in poor countries.  Just $50 of goods to sell could change a family's entire life.
  • Start a campaign to match older foster children with families since they are hardly ever adopted.
  • To provide supplies and money for the Orphans with Aids in Mexico. (The DWG Benefit is for these children)
  • To Tithe of course.
  • To pay off our bills and hire my husband fulltime to work for Dancing With Grace Productions, Inc.
  • To help our family.
  • And if there is any $ left over buy a house on the beach, because "God Doesn't Make Anymore Beach Front Property!"
  • Retire and help others for the rest of our lives.

Why does your support matter?

The more videos we sell, the more $ we can donate to our cause.  We thank you for your support and are very excited to have a goal in life that will make a difference even when we are gone.....

Sincerely,

Grace and Hugo Badillo

Student Emails

Hi Grace,

I don't know how to thank you for honoring me as the 2005 student of the year. You and Hugo have been such a great inspiration to me and that has increased my desire to learn and dance more. Even though I have not been able to get out and dance in the clubs because of school, you have worked with me and I have progressed nonetheless. I thank you for your beautiful spirit and lovely style. I have never met anyone who has such a fitting name matched to their personality. I wish you all the best with your dancing endeavor. You and Hugo have put a lot into it and I can't think of two better deserving people than the two of you. I'm glad to have been a very very small part of your growth and I know that you will be successful beyond your imagination.

Thanks for everything. See ya soon.

Shoe Repair

I get lots of questions about where to get dance shoes repaired.  I go to Boris at Security Square Shoe Repair.  He can put a new suede on the bottoms of your shoes and fix any problem you seem to have including cutting a heel down a bit.  I would ask for Boris and tell them that Grace sent you to get a small discount.  It should cost $20 for new suede (ladies) and up to $35 for guys. It costs $6.50-15.00 for a new heel if its worn down.  Shoe Tip: Anyone who tries to charge you over $35 to get new suede on the bottoms of your shoes is ripping you off.  You can also buy the suede from Cindy at the Promenade and take it to Boris for him to put it on, which should be cheaper.  The suede costs $10 from Cindy.

Featured Students:

Grace & Hugo are looking for two student volunteers to do the 7:30 pm  demonstration at Gardels in the month of April or May.

What does this entail?  You and your partner would come prepared to dance a 3 minute demonstration dance of basic to intermediate salsa material.  We would introduce you and you would dance and get 2 free drinks on us!  The crowds are usually very small (from 6-12 people eating) so its a great way to start performing.  If you are interested in taking your dancing to a new level by introducing yourself to demonstration dances, email grace at grace@dancingwithgrace.com

3. Friday Night Video Release Benefit Was A Great Success Thanks To You!

The night was filled with fantastic food, dancing, performances, prizes, humor and heart! For those of you who missed it we sure hope you check out our pictures in our photo gallery and many more to come next month. Each person involved from the dancers to the guests made the night a complete success. All night we were bombarded with comments like "It was the classiest rueda choreography we had ever seen!", "Hugo dancing with 9 year old little Jen was the cutest highlight", "If that little girl can dance salsa, I am going to give it a try!", and much much more. Expression Magazine came congratulating Grace and Hugo and formally announcing that she has a new column in this magazine called "Salsa in The City, A Guide to Dance In Baltimore and Beyond". A huge thank you to each of those who contributed to this cause. We couldn't have done it without you! To Cha-Cha George, the Salsa Community Man of The Year we love you! To John Ellington, Student of the Year, Way to Go Blue Eyes! We hope that our next party is even better.

11.  Local Salsa News: Salsa Music

Baltimore’s authentic Latin music radio program “Fiesta Musical” and host Jose Ruiz celebrates 9 Years of Classic Salsa and Latin Jazz on Morgan State University Public Radio 88.9 WEAA FM Baltimore, Maryland…

On Tuesday, May 16, 2006 “Fiesta Musical” will celebrate its Ninth Anniversary on Morgan State University Public Radio 88.9 WEAA FM “ Baltimore: The Voice of the Community”. Hosted and produced by José Ruiz this show is still Baltimore’s only Latin music program. Fiesta Musical has an ever-increasing following of diverse listeners on Tuesday evenings from 8pm-12midnight and is a “classic”, featuring a lively mix of Salsa and Latin Jazz, on air interviews and unique commentary on the history and roots of this timeless music.

First aired in May of 1997, Fiesta Musical was originally a 1 hour program that grew to 3 hours by January of 1999 along with a widening audience.

The music is hot and spicy and José satisfies his listener’s appetites with a weekly sampling of the great salseros of the past and present like Tito Puente, Hector Lavoe, Ruben Blades, La Lupe, Celia Cruz and Willie Colon. Ruiz also plays Latin Jazz artists like Cal Tjader, Humberto Ramirez and Ray Vega. Each week the program features the works of individuals or Latin music styles with historic and biographical notes provided by co- host Andrew Scherr.

On air interviews with some of the great artists of our time like Eddie Palmieri, Joe Cuba, Larry Harlow, Willie Villegas, Hilton Ruiz and Poncho Sanchez are a regular feature that adds to a depth of understanding of the roots and history of Classic Salsa and Latin Jazz. Jose’s on air presence make Fiesta Musical truly the best Latin music program in the area.

Fiesta Musical is not just about music. “Latino USA: The Radio Journal of News and Culture” from National Public Radio is a regular feature of the program and is heard at 11pm each week. Community Announcements give local musical groups and community organizations a format for publicizing their events and services.

“I can’t really believe that it has been nine years since Fiesta Musical was started. I get calls every week like it’ the first time people are hearing this music. Then I get callers who are excited that the music is being kept alive and delivered to the next generation of listeners. I’m grateful to everyone at WEAA for their support, I look forward to many more years of Salsa in Baltimore” says Ruiz who has a unique sense of the music and dedication to finding the right mix to create this unique blend of artists, interviews and social commentary gives the audience three great hours of entertainment.
