this class will be geared to
the debutant in Latin American dance. They will teach the
basic figures and action that characterize this flirtatious,
rhythmical dance, and emphasize the social nightclub
styling. Basic action, simple spins, and underarm
turns, as well as leading and following will be the focus.
Dancers of all skill levels are welcome, but no experience
or partner is required.
Intermediate Level I from 8-9 p.m.:
this class is geared to the
Latin American dancer who is proficient in the basic
actions, leading/following, and figures of Cha Cha.
They will build on popular figures, and make them spicy with
variations in turns, spirals, and more challenging spins.
Social nightclub cha cha will be the focus. All levels
of dance are welcome but the dancer should be comfortable
with the basics. If you are a beginner, you may take both
classes if you are up to the challenge. No partner

7. Stardust Dance Weekend in Ellenville, New
York: 09/16/05-09/18/05!
Cant make it to any of the Salsa Cruises? Stardust
Dance Weekend is a lovely time away from the normal dance
craze of any city. Hugo and I went last year to a
Stardust event not knowing what to expect. What we
found were many serious dancers coming to learn, gigantic
ballrooms that reminded me of when courtship actually
involved a night of dancing. The interesting part of
it besides all of the workshops and food were all of the
different ages present. The average age was over 40.
Maybe 20% of the people were from 25-45 and the level of
dancers were pretty great. Some of the teachers were
in their 60's but could literally out-dance any salsero in
DC! We couldn't believe it! They danced on 1
and 2 and even taught on both. If you want to try
something truly unique try this: Average
